I take this news from www.net-security.org where explain that ElcomSoft has developed two new software to speed up the process of cracking of WPA-PSK Wi-Fi and of the passwords to protect backup data of iPhone or iPod using the latest ATI graphics card.

The support for Radeon 5000 series cards allows you to recover passwords (via bruteforcing) 20 times more faster than any intel cpu quad core extreme and two times faster than the NVIDIA Tesla (price from 1000 to 6000 euro).

This fact makes us think about future implementations of GPGPU, if cuda OpenCL will make it even easier for developers , soon we will have more fast software and the video cards will be no longer used only to video games or graphics programs.

The next step will be integrating the GPU into the CPU for switching the flow of data without slowing down. It seems that AMD is already developing this technology.
